after reading the tappet overhaul guide i have decided to sort out the tappets in my car as 1 or 2 are staring to get a bit noisy...
i have the tappets out and the pistons move freely within all the tappets... a few were a little bit stickyer than others but nothing a pair of pliers wouldn't sort out...
i have flushed them through with gunk and now they are nice and free moving, so much so that they move in and out when i shake the tappet. (i hope this is o.k??)
i have now come to take the pistons out of the lifters to check the springs but am having a little difficulty getting it out...
should they come our fairly easily or am i going to have to be a bit brutal?
perfered method is to slam then down on a piece of wood.
