Ok ive just fitted a mongoose system to my calibra turbo, after a whole night of fannying on to make sure it doesnt catch the propshaft!
Any ways ive noticed a big difference in the way the car pulls etc.
It now seems to idle better then i did before? as before it was up and down alot more i put that to the saab reds so how come its better now?
Also theres a noticable stronger smell of petrol? is this due to there not being a cat no more and petrol is getting thru? will the ecu need time to adjust fueling with the car being removed?

better flowing exhaust has maybe freeeeed a few more horses?
idleing and stronger smell of petrol....... now its breathing a little better the engine is alowing a little more fuel through?
i heard that if you diconect the battery and reconect after ten mins it will reset the ecu to the new components fitted i.e new exhaust plus injectors ( like i say i heard )
the lack of cat will be the source of the fuel smell, every car ive decatted has done the same
although the new system wouldnt really provide any gains over a stock system, if the previous system is badly made OE replacement or just really old and bunged up fitting a new system can return the car to its original state which may be all your experiancing?
although the exhaust is flowing better - it makes sod all difference to idle and nothing for the ecu to adjust - just means that you have slightly less back pressure when trying to get rid of the exhaust gases.
I see no reason whatsoever that changing an exhaust allows it to fuel more ?? utter rubbish .
If u discconected the battery the ecu wil loose it's memory and yes it will re-learn everything again.
Nope. The lambda sensor detects the mixture, which will always be constant. There won't be unburnt fuel unless of a problem. So a better flowing exhaust will just allow more of the SAME mixture (i.e. smell) through than what was before.
well its made a lot of difference to the car, im running phase 2 with saab reds and a evo 6 intercooler before i had a standard system now the cars feels alot better. In with the xe cam next and sort out actuator.
lambda sensors sence how much oxygen is going through the exhaust and adjusts the ecu for fuel mixture (weakens or richens depending on how much oxygen the car is burning)
problem is now i think the clutch is slipping pmsl! wtf next!
