I know this isnt kinda vauxhall related but I thought maybe some of you guys could help.
My mate would like to know if its possible to fit an F20 to his Golf 1.6 driver on a H-plate and what modifications may be needed to make it fit.
Any help is much appreciated, cheers guys
If he was chucking in a Vauxhall engine as well, yes. But the gearbox wouldn't even come close to fitting on the Golf engine. Golf gearboxes can be picked up cheap anyway.
Cheers guys, anyone know of a specific VW gearbox that is similar in ratios to that of the F20? I think this would save a lot of hassle, i spose making an adapter is a possibility but i imagine the mounts would be a git to sort. Also trying to find a clutch plate that matches the splines of the input shaft would be hard?

I think he wants closer gears, so like when he hits 6-7K rpm (or whatever) in first, second gear will be at the higher end of the rpm so theres no lag between gears me thinks
Final drive from a 1.3 Maestro (it also using the same gearbox 020) might solve his problem. I looked into it a while back, had a 1.8 GTi a while back.
I can say to him about it but isnt final drive ratio, 5th gear? He wants quicker acceleration over top speed i think
