Well info really, having a new powerflow system fitted soon, but can any tell me if all back boxes are designed the same, as in will a Peco bb2 (brand new) bought to fit a 8v cope with the extra power of a 16v?, bar in mind I wasn't looking at using the middle section (peco, with silencer) but keeping the powerflow straight through section? my back box is shafted
Vefore you get a powerflow, i think i should tell you this ive got one on my car put on by the previous owner, where the exhaust has been bent, they have not mandrel bent the exhaust (method used to keep the exhaust the same diameter as it bends) they have just used a mormal pipe bending machine so my exhaust system shrinks by at least 1/3 every time it bends round something, and when i had my car rolling roaded, the exhaust was strangeling the car at high revs
Ive got a powerflow on my MK1 GTE 16V however I not impressed with it. As mentioned above the bends restrict the flow and for a stainless exhaulst the baffle boxes are the only thing thats stainless the rest is rusting as per a standard exhaulst. Unless your after a loud exhaulst its not the one to go for. Apart from that it was quite cheep (£170 cash). Im ditching mine at the end of may to buy a better quality and quite one.
I haven’t looked into which company is going to do the new exhaust yet but I know there’s a few around ( Blueflame i thinks )
Mine has a join at the bottom of the manifold not a weld, they cut of the normal coupling to make there life a bit easier. There is a silencer in the middle ( not that it makes much difference ) , the silencers are the type that they fit to 16V they said. If you can afford it I would go upmarket.
