XE and C20let...... How do you ......
Lock the cam pulleys to change the cam belt.......... or do you just fiddle about and put spanners and mole grips on like me..........
Sealy do a locking clip but it dont fit as its for the ecotech engine.......???
just wondered how yall did it and if there was a tool i could get.....
I'm sure they're available - but I just use a spanner on the hex by the timing end - fine so long as you haven't wild cams set to TDC.
Yeah..... thats what I do at the mo......... its just nice to have the right tools for the job........
I'ts not really neccessary to lock them. It would be done in an ideal world but the cams will not move out of position that easily, you would need to forcfully turn them.
yeah thats right, they naturally rest with the markers at tdc anyway.
oh right, yeah - if you don't need to take the pulleys off then they'll sit there quite happy and rest between the spring tension in 1 and 4 - don't stress about locking them in any way for just a belt change.
ok Thankyou peeps..........
What about if you are changing the cams for wild ones?
How do you time up performance cams on a 16V engine?
it would work fine with standard pulleys, but for best results get vernier pulleys at 50-70 quid each. can then get a rolling road to dial in the best overlap.
Thats what I thought.....but if I change to vernier pulleys then how do I time them up to get it running ? for RR session?
How much difference between standard pulleys and verniers ?
the verniers will come set at 0 which should match the tdc markers on you standard pulleys. thats how mine cav on was anyway.
