I have seen both systems in action, my friend has the mantzel powerbox on his 1600 xe in a nova, which is very impressive, but I was blown away with how quick to rev the velos system on an xe is, when i was taken for a ride in their demostrator, which is a standard 1600 xe in a nova. I have an engine built by velos in my car and thoroughly recommend them, Rob and Alan are both very nice blokes, who put a lot of effort into getting your car setup just right. Go for the Velos system you wont regret it and youll have something very different, people will ask you what is that under your bonnet. Give them a call and theyll be hapy to give you a demonstration im sure.
Yes i think the mantzel one comes with a new lower manifold. Pete Knivett at vkr will give you all the details, another nice guy.
I think i'm going to go for the Velos induction kit then at a later date upgrade to kit A. On Velos site theres a few pics of these systems - they look Different but very tempting. Question where then once fitted, does the air filter/induction kit go on the kit - i can't see any visible points?
If you look at the photos closely you can see velos are different in the fact they put the throttle body on the right hand side of the plenum (opposite to standard) so you put your air feed whether its an airbox or a cone filter on the right hand inner wing ( as you look in the bonnet) and the inlet hose goes over the brake servo.
I dont think they have put one in an a vectra, but if anything is different such as clearance they will easily change the kit to fit.
As for 1600 8vs Velos kits are shown on the website and are made up for 16vs for fitments in novas corsas tigras ( all different designs) but they have the kits fabricated to their designs and can quite easily change the flange and of the inlet manifold to fit the 8v.
I have just had dta mangement fitted by them, and we believe that i have the only 1396 8v with full engine management on it. Im only using the 3d ignition side at the moment because i have webber 40 dcoes but in a couple of months ill have throttle bodies. They had to make up a crank sensor pulley and bracket for the sensor, a bracket for the coil, a bracket for the throttle position sensor. Now they have done mine, they know the brakets to make for other 8vs.
They know a lot of interesting contacts, so all of the components are made to a very high quality. (because they use engineering firms who normally would be building supercars.) My bottom pulley is made by Aston engineering, who make components if not construct Aston Martins. Give Alan and Rob a call, you wont regret it.
Thankk you Paul for your very informative answer. I will give them a call later this week. I'm gonna go for the Induction kit, then later upgrade to kit A. You're right in that the Vectra has less clearance at the back due to the wiring loom etc. but i hope that they'll be able to modify it!!!!
