After a long winter rebuild of my new turbo engine (c20 let) I got it running last night!
On first start up it sounded awful. After 5 secs I had to switch it of. After all it was 11:00 at night!.
Tonight I checked all over and started it again. Still a horrorable noise. At first i put it down to the tappets. On tick over it wasn't to bad but as soon as i revved it it got worse. The noise was coming from the sump though. I took of the sump after a good look around I noticed that on the baffle plate between the cork sump gaskets there was a small mark on the plate.Upon checking where it actually sat it pointed towards one of the rod bolts.
I used ARP bolts supplied to me by SBD. I looked at the old OE bolts and the heads are half the size of ARP's.Im just going to grind that area away.
So ive solved the problem myself but what im asking is has this ever happened to anyone else.
