Bttt

Its amazing some of the titles people think of today.

'Vauxhall help'
'Quick help needed'

If people just spent 30 seconds thinking of a title like:-

'Mk3 Astra 1.6 16v head gasket'
'C20LET Turbo options'

It really would help everyone. Its not just me being an arse!

Your not being an arse no, its just people being lazy, or thinking a title like "help" will get people's attention.

I have a confession though....

When i first joined mig i posted a thread with a help needed title

Hi, thought I would just give you a view on the previous comments. I have a question, fairly simple and I am sure it has been answered before. However I could not do a search until I had registered. Once I had registered I am much more inclined to just post my question, rather than do the search, as I have already invested more time that I wanted (or needed) to.

This creates yet another person asking a question that has been asked and answered many times. It bloats the new posts page, drops more to page 2, leaves more unanswered and does the forum no good at all.

Have you thought about allowing search without registration? I mean, yeah it is great to have more members and more posts but this forum is way past the need for that. It has over 25k, do you really need to be wasting resource, both cpu and human, by forcing one-question-only people to register, when they could happily find the answer with a search?

Btw, what I always do when I use a resource like this, is say a 'thanks' by clicking through those adverts that are, cough, interesting to me.

Anyway, my two penneth worth. Off to search now... you may see me again if I can't find an answer!!

If you only want to come here, ask one question then go away, then sod off Seriously, we hope you will enjoy the site, make new friends and learn new stuff, so stick around and that 'waste of time' spent registering will be one of the best things you did

To be honest MrC, I really dont see the isssue.
If MIG require you to register, then thats what you need to do.

Your not paying for the service, so to be honest, i'd be more than please to waste 2 minutes of my time registering.
