I have a sri mk3 cav 8v 1991,
Cut out the other day as if running out of fuel although it had half a tank. Its just come back from a local vauxhall guy (vgood reputation) who said he couldn't find the fault but after a quick tow it will run for a few minutes and then cut out, he said he had called a auto-electrician who gave it a quick check over and said it has a fault some where in the loom but wants between £20 -£300 to sort it out. vauxhall guy only charged me £20 as he said he hadn't fixed it. I have replaced the fuel filter, plugs, leads, dizzy cap and arm,oil and air filters within the last two months all of which was checked by mechanic and pronounced in good order.
And so to the point of the thread( at last) does anyone have any thoughts or experience with loom faults on mk3 cavs ?, maybe could point me in a good direction to start looking myself, or maybe some one has had a similar fault but found out it was something else.
So a quick recap- won't start off key but if you leave it turning over long enough it sort of trys to start, will sometimes start after a tow but cuts out between 1-10 mins later and won't start straight away afterwards.
All answers appreciated and thanks in advance .
