I am still getting ECU code '57' coming up on my Astra. The wiring to the ICV seems ok. If I were to unplug it (again) and test the wiring with a multi-meter, what sort of voltage should I get to the plug?
Is there a step by step guide anywhere about cleaning out the ICV?
I've put an update on the main MIG forum (Astra update). I read the fault codes for the ABS and it is telling me that the o/s rear sensor has a problem (code 46). I will change it and see how it goes. The wire to it is wrapped around the brake pipe so I think the wire might have broken in it.
The slight hesitation on accelerating we think is the fuel line from the fuel pump. There is quite a kink in it so we are going to replace it.
The ICV you have got, is it still functional? Could I borrow it to see if it is that?
The easiest way to test the idle control valve is to remove the connection and then take 2 jump leads, connect one from the battery positive to pin number 2 on the idle speed control valve. with the second lead, BRIEFLY, earth the other pin.
If the valve is working correctly you should hear a fairly loud click as the valve operates.
If it doesn't then it's either gummed up or the electrics are knackered.
If its working but doesn't on the car then your problem is either in the wiring or the ECU.
