I have a 1.6 nova running on twin 40's, but i was wondering what shoiuld be done with the breather pipe that comes from the top left hand side of the rocker cover.? At the moment it is just pointing upwards and that is it.
1. Put long bit of pipe on and let it dangle/place it down back of engine so it drops any oil on the floor under engine,
2. Fit a small breather filter direct to the head (pipercross etc,
3. Get/make an oil breather tank (these can look well trick and is what I've got). Run pipe to this.
Where canb you buy the propper filters from and does it just bolt in to the pipe that i have there, and how much are they?? And how do you make a trick oil breather tank? Empty can of red bull or summat?
Proper filters - practically anywhere if you ask them if they can do them, , i.e. Demon Tweeks, or Halfords (Ripspeed) superstores to the Pipercross ones - you can then make sure you get the right size to fit your head outlet. Fit it direct to your head if you've got the space - not the pipe. Lokk at Mike Warners photos in the gallery as he's got one.
Price - between £10 and £25 for most of them. I got a real trick K&N one that should have been £25 but the kiddie at the ripspeed counter couldn't find the button on the till for it so I got it for £15!!!
How to make an oil catch/breather tank - look at Gary's website I think he shows you what it is and how he made his. Some people use the can of redbull style (SBD use a Carling can on their 242bhp 1.6 car). But the principles behind any of them are the same. My local engineering place made mine out of billet ally for £60. Bargin cos it fits exactly where I wanted it, looks trick, and cheaper than anything comparable from a retailer.
