Question using an early vw vr6 airflow meter /maf on a C20let ??

Since my 200tS airflow meter /maf is broken i need to replace it.. finding a 'suitable' used one is almost impossible & a new airflow meter /maf is close to ₤300 from GM
I was advised to use the an airflow meter /maf from an early vw vr6 (bosch 6-pin). Has any one done this.. Do I need to change any wires around on plug or does it a straight swop???

Bosch part no for airflow meter /maf.

    0 280 213 012 - as found originally on tS
    0 280 213 024 - as found on C20LET is UK
    0 280 213 021 - as found on early VR6

    Thanks

i would think it should work normally........as in same resistance invonveld in the AFM...but i think that the way the thing reacts to the amount of air would differ from your car ie the spring on the flap in the AFM.......!!!! how the weather in capetown today...........i came from guateng dont spose you know someone with a VR6 and can test it

The vr6 isnt a flap type, its an amm rather that afm. It should work, ive swaped them from vw to vw(different models)vw to audi and vw to bmw and they all worked.
