mk3 astra hunting after changing water pump

    Hi

    Can anyone help please.

I have put a new water pump an a J reg(92) 1.4 astra and lined the little groove on the bottom pulley up with the little raised bit on the plastics and then lined the groove on the cam pulley straight up with the V cut out in the plastics and started the engine and it fires up and runs but the revs drop and then pick up every couple of seconds.

    Regards

I am right with the marks that I have set up arn't I.

little groove on the bottom pulley with a little plastic sticky up bit on the lower plastic cover and then line up the groove on the cam pulley with the little V shaped notch cut out the top of the plastic that sits behind the cam pulley.

Did you time the marks before removing old belt, to check?
    Sounds right though I think.
What else have you removed in doing this, disturbed something?

i did line them up but had to take the pulleys off to get to the waterpump so the pulleys moved but re-aligned them when put back.

    I don't think i disturbed anything.

I don't have a manual and wanted to be sure that the marks i am ligning up are correct

Is the tensioner set right? The water pump will have to be turned to the right angle to make the tensioner line up with apointy bit in between two behind it if I remember correctly (sorry for vague description)

Went and bought a manual and saw about the pointy thing on the tensioner, all sorted now.

    Many thanks
