Just fitted this Blueprinted engine into one of my MK1s. But I had to cut the oil cooler pipes out of the MK2 as they would not budge with the spanner. The scrappy could'nt help either as he could'nt get any intact pipes off. The problem is now that I am buggered if I am giving Vauxhall £85+vat for 2 pipes so I wondered is it absolutely vital to have the oil cooler because I noticed that an SRI 130 does not have one fitted and surely they are the same engine more or less. Does anyone have any suggestions?
i had to do the same (actually i now know how to get the lot off without damaging anything - take filter off and undo the centre screw) and run without a cooler
SBD do the small screw to run just a filter, i think its about 4 quid
i've got a Belmont GLSi with a 18e engine as used in the early 1.8 GTE's and it has an oil cooler but i also had a GTE with the same engine and no oil cooler so you can run them without them if you want
yeah its much easier to get a new one..i never said i paid for mine, but i believe thats what they charge lol
