Well the time came for the intercooler to be fitted.
Mr. Rose very kindly came round and helped me fit it. I thought it was going to take a while and after having disturbed Gav on the morning of his weekly monstrous hangover I phoned Richie at which point he told me it was a 2 day job and to try to avoid kicking the car when the blasted thing didn't fit .
We started at about 10 am and I promptly asked Cris to take out the near side bumper mounting bolt (all the cav owners will be laughing at this point, due to its location in relation to the washer bottle). He did a sterling job and we then made a start on removing everything.
I remember thinking "Oh my god how the hell is the radiator going to fit back in with the intercooler intake hosing where it is"?
With a little gentle persuasion and some exercising of our "potty mouths" we made it fit. Any ziptie gen? lmao
The bumper had to be cut to make it all fit. We ended up having to take a lot of the back of the bottom scoop to make it fit but it does and after some touch up paint it all looks class .
To cut a 10 hour story short it went on very well with one or two minor hiccups (including a missing steel pipe which Gav is sending asap) BTW many thanks to Cris and his Dad for the bit of piping we used to replace it.
Intial road tests show a HUGE improvement in power all the way to top revs!!! Feels very nice. After having tested it and then remembered my clutch was gone I pulled up on the drive to the philharmonic noise of the bottom radiator hose pissing water out everywhere.
Once again a big thank you to Cris.
Oh well, Roll on Bank Holiday weekend!!!!
