I won't bore you with the details, however lets just say that getting water in an engine is not a good thing. This is particularly true as I now have a hole in the sump where something has gone bang (albeit quietly).
So, I am in the position where I have a GSi Vectra, with 17k on clock and possibly a stuffed engine. I am hoping it's just the short engine, as I don;t want to have the hassle of swapping cams and stuff over.
I will know tomorrow what the damage done is, but I'd like to research my options now. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do given the fact I have to pay for this?
For example, could I swap it for a 3l block and retain the head, injectors etc. ..?
the 3.0 engine is rare to find 2nd hand, there are a few 2.5s about and u could swap the lot over...it wont be low mileage tho i doubt
if the blocks ok then you can get a new sump and repair internal damage
