Ok the car is a 93 astra gsi (C20XE), with a standard gearbox (F20?).
Anyway, I was just wondering how often a change of gearbox oil is needed? I dont see the harm in getting it changed anyway unless its gonna break the bank!
In theory, it shouldn't need replacing at all as it's a sealed unit. But in reality, it doesn't hurt and worth doing if it's never been done before. Cheap and you can do it yourself. Dextron II is the stuff you want iirc.

pretty sure dextron II is for autoboxes and power steering, not the high sheer environment inside a gearbox.
just go to vauxhall and get the correct transmission oil for your gearbox
