Hello, I have a 1989 Nova GTE and I am having a few problems starting it every now and again.
Usually when i turn the ignition on I can hear the fuel pump priming. BUt every now and again i turn the ignition on and no fuel pump priming. When I come to start the car it just turns over ( No fuel being pumped!!!! )
I need to know where abouts the fuel relay is positioned under the bonet as I am stuck at work and cant get home to get the book!!!!!!
Wicked thanks mate ! HAve you ( or anyone you know ) had this problem? Its weird because sometimes its fine then other times it not.
Any ideas how I can get the car started? Will the old tap it trick work??
yeah a swift jab with a spanner or something hard will get you home. and yes ive sat in various lay by's running my battery flat trying to star me car, cause of those damn relays. a spare in the glove box is a good idea, quite inexpensive, well compared to getting towed home.
The problem arises because of two soldered joins inside the relay, everytime you turn on the ignition the relay snaps accross and after a few years this snapping action cracks the solder and makes operation a bit flakey. The bash just sort of jolts it into place, not a fix, so get that relay as soon as
