Right im after some info on what was done to pu the XE into a standard Mk2 astra shell.
I know that the radiator is deeper and that the 16v lower cross-member is lower (and thin as bog paper) so these have to be 'adjusted'. Its how you do a neat job on adding the hole to the drivers side of the bulkhead to fead the injection loom through to the ecu thats the prob. Could either cut a circular hole or cut that section out of the donor cart and weld it in.
Have also heard that the exhaust layout is slightly different.
Am busy refurbishing the shell just now and living in Edinburgh now means work is slow but still need to do welding before I respray it (if i ever decide on a colour).
i'll tell you in an hour cos i am just dropping the engine in now.
i havent done any of the adjusting you say to cos you dont need to. i have a new 8v lower xmember and its stronger than the 16v high one. the radiator is fine and i am using a cool stat to help out.
theres a massive hole already for the 8v loom, so thats been used for my mbe loom, you thread the wires in from inside.
the amusing bit is the coolant setup, i have been forced to use the 8v rail cos the one i have is bust and vauxhall dont have any in stock, so i have blocked 1 outlet off with a hose & sparkplug. the front connection to the radiator looks to be fine with the old 8v block hose lol
