I was a little confused after the RR day why I had high bhp and torque figures, well I have found the reason.
While on the way to the cinema tonight I decided to actually look at my boost gauge for a change and watch what was happening to boost presuures.
I found an empty bit of road put it in 5th and floored it from about 50mph. The result equals a gradual build up in pressure all the way to 1.5 bar where it peaks at about 4 - 5k rpm and then tails off to about 1.35 bar at about 5-6 k rpm.
Wait for it ...... I'm running the standard intercooler
I thought that the ECU controlled the level of boost held and the actuator controlled the overboost. I also thought that the phase 1 chips were designed to hold only 0.95 - 1 bar. So should I be able to hold 1.5 bar with the phase 1 chips I have? I guess you could say that if I had the actuator wound right up then this would be possible but I haven't really touched it since I put the chips in.
As a priority, I am trying to buy an intercooler from Gav at the moment and will fit asap.
Anyone have any ideas on whats going on with my setup?
