Anyone found problems with aftermarket (not sourced from vaux) headbolts or head gaskets causing oil leaks????
changed my head gasket a few weeks ago, skimmed the head, used a Unipart gasket and bolt set... torqued up the head as per the haynes book of lies... (stage one, two three blah blah..)
last week i smelt oil burning..... so lifted to bonnet to find oil seeping from the head gasket..... so checked the head bolt torque and found it was loose as f@c#..... so tightened them down to what is an average stretch bolt torque... and all was well....
yesterday, after a week of no leaks..... went for a hard run, on the way back, came to traffic lights and again... smelt oil burning... pulled into my workshop and AGAIN!! oil seeping from head gasket..... I have not re torqued the head bolts again yet... but has anyone experienced stretch bolts stretching too much ) or in other words the bolts loosing torque?!?!?!
