intercooling non turbo
would there be any benefit in fitting an intercooler to an astra gsi. would it give any power increase due to colder air going through the afm?
fraid not old bean, cause the engine would have to work harder to drag the air through all the extra pipes and radiator. loosing you twice the power you gained from it being cold.
also the induction tracts length and size is a very fine science, even changing the length a few inches will have a detrimental effect on performance, let alone the restriction of metre of pipe work and an intercooler.
wot if i put one end straight into airbox from underneath where that useless plastic box was?
if its directly connected to the inlet pipes its a restriction, if its not cennected whats pushing cold air through the cooler ?
you can route some pipe from the front grill to the air box, so it gets outside air when your moving, yeah.
cool i will get some bloody big pipe and let it suck all it can.cheers...
tried removing the big ram pipe system on the Omega and used shortened tubing and lost power through the rev range. (11bhp @ peak)
Manufacturers usually get it right.
