HELP C20LET Ecu Fault Codes 31,19,117

Jus got my engine running after rebuilding it completly

Its was starting fine and running fine

But today i took it out a wee run round block to see how it was going and it conked out

Wouldnt start so towed her home and read Ecu fault codes

Please note ecu light was on b4 i conked out and has been since rebuilding her and i jus put it down to memory needing reset as it also needed this done last time i rebuilt it

With engine not starting i read codes with engine turned off and got

31 Engine RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) No signal

Which i though was fine as engine wasnt running so would show that but thought it strange this is all that came up

But try'd turning engine over and it fired up after about 10 turns and did so 3 times when i try again again so its not starting properly first of all

    BUT

with engine going i now get

19 RPM signal (crankshaft sensor) Incorrect signal

    and

117 Wastegate valve Low voltage (which i got last time we rebuilt engine and it was jus a broken wire on Amel valve which i have unplugged jus now so engine can run in without having to worry about 280 horse wanting to play

    SO WHATS YOUR OPINION'S (sp)

Are you saying you don't think it needs a new crank sensor? As the other two codes you have answers for.

It does run close to the turbo so gets hot. I routed mine differently to avoid this, and the hours of pain to route it the original way.
31 was down to it not running, and 117 sounds like it's down to you unplugging.

I think the crank sensor causes many faults, including the starting. One went on a 2.0 cav i had, got best performance from changing gear below 2k.

They're cheap enough at autovaux. Can't see the sensor?
If you follow the cable down the front left of the block it goes behind the mount iirc.

Right jus checked code again with engine running and wit amel valve connected it still gives me 117,

How long does this take to clear or will it now be a fault logged

As i said my wiring broke to amel valve so i used bullet connectors so i have 2 ways of connecting it but not sure on which is righ but try both and still 117 flashs up ill go get a pic and show which way iv got her

Just whip the battery lead off for a few minutes, then re-check.

    like a saint-9points
ssounds like the crank sensor could be on its way out to me.

heres a pic of the way the wires go in the plug

you can work out which way yours go from that or incase yer thick, you have them the correct way

    rodgerq
thick red - battery, thin black - igntion switched feed, thick red/blue - fuel pump, brown/blue - ecu light. thin green - rev counter.
