driving last night and the oil light came on in my corsa xe. puled over and checked the oil and it was ok. does the oil light indicate anylthig else or just the level? if not could it just be the wiring. cheers:beer:

There are 2 oil sensors, 1 for oil level and 1 for oil pressure. I'm not sure if they both use the same warning bulb but if they do it could have been an oil pressure problem or just faulty wiring/sensor.

Were you cornering hard or thrashing it when it happened?

well the oil pressure is lower at idle anyway, when the engines hot, but genuine low pressure and genuine warning light will be when the pressure is critically low, like iminent engine failure critically low. usually the lifters will be clattering away also.
