When I bolted on throttle bodies to my 1.6 Ecotech engine, I had the bores honed and new rings fitted. This was (I suspect)because there had previously been some bore glazing caused by a period of over-fuelling when someone who was clueless tried to map the engine.
I've now run the engine for 2000 miles on mineral oil to help it bed in and have just switched to Vaux's own 10/40 semi synthetic oil. I know that engines use a bit more oil when bedding in and oil consumption is also related to how hard you drive them (and I see 8K on the rev meter frequently). But does anyone know what would be a sensible figure for oil consumption once everythings fully run in? I seem to be burning about 1L each 1000 miles at the moment, which seems a little high - the engine has just 40,000 miles on it.
Thanks in anticipation.
