Hi all, I've been reading these boards for a while now trying to get some info for an upcoming project and I reckon it's about time I joined to see if I can get some help.
Here's the situation. About a year back my missus's grandfather gave her a F-Reg 1.2 Nova Diamond for nothing. It was in pretty much mint condition, as it was kept in a garage for most of its life. However, recently I've had to spend some cash on it replacing the exhaust, tyres, discs etc. and I seriously started considering getting rid of it.
But... If I do that then all of my missus's nags and complaints about it will be proved right. Besides, she wants a pug 306 and I can't stand them. My task is to prove that with a chunk of work - I can make the nova as good a car as the pug and it wont cost a lot more.... So, here's where I need your help.
Having looked into it, I would really like to put a 1.6 engine in it, uprate the discs, alloys, body, interior, exhaust and pretty much everything else (gearbox, etc.). Now I know that common sense says buy a 1.6 and work on that, but that's not gonna prove my point.
So will the 1.2 body take the 1.6 engine, if not, is there any work that can be done to it (re-enforced engine bay etc) that can make it take the engine. If it will, what's the best 1.6 engine to get for it?
If someone can help me with this, we can move on to the next steps in the design - I'm gonna need plenty of help from the vaux experts!
