my temp gauge doesnt do alot and im not sure if its opperating properly,in trafic it gets up to 85 deg but i can go out for a thrape and its nearly on the blue(real cold)? id imagine it to get hot when i go 4 a blast?
is the temp sender next to the cts?
also does the temp sensor talk to the ecu in any way?
Sounds like your Thermostat is sticking open. The lack of air through the radiator when stationary will allow the temp to rise until the radiator sender switch kicks the fan in, but when the cars moving and the rad is getting a constant flow of air and the water temp' starts to drop to low the themostat should close to allow the temp' to build back up to the correct level and only open when it needs to allow water to flow through the rad again and cool it keeping the engine at the optimum operating temperature.
Obviously it could be the temp sender and as it is the easiest thing to check / replace I'd definately check it out first.
I didn't want to comment on where the temp' sender was as without going round the garage and looking on my car I couldn't remember where it was and didn't want to post up info that could be incorrect.
I was sugesting that the fault might be in the stat as it can cause this fault and nobody else had bothered trying to help out.
