Can some help me as i hav a couple of problems... just finishing rebuildin my c20let engine and the 1 rocker bolt wont do up. the thread must be knackered.. do i try rethredin it or is it goin to be a bit more complicated?? the same goes for one of the exhaust manifold bolts.....
take them all out again and put them back in rows but dont tighten them right up so you can move the rocker cover about then once all are in tighten them up
I had one of the rocker bolts strip on an old XE and it never gave any bother, also couldn't see 1 missing bolt on the manifold causing any bother either !
If you ever end up stripping the engine down for any reason then yeah sort it owt, but i wouldn't worry otherwise.
Helicoil a new one mate.
Rocker cover missing bolts sometimes create big problems, especially if they allow oil to leak inwards, filling the spark plug holes.
