4x4 Gsi XE into SRi XE shell - Exhaust Problems

I put the manifold back on the SRi with the engine out of the GSi.

I looked at the exhaust already on the car and it looked the same as the GSi exhaust.

When I went to bolt the manifold to the mid section its about a foot too short so I naturally assumed the cat had been robbed.

So I ordered a Piper CAT18 Cat replacement pipe for a Cavalier 2.0l 16v 88-92 assuming it has to be a redtop and it is a 2l 16v 92 I bought that one.

I got the pipe today and realised the cat is actually already on the car but the manifold doesnt come close enough to the exhaust.

Whats going on? Is the 4x4 manifold different to the 2wd GSi/SRi to avoid the transfer box? Does the 2wd GSi/SRi come further back than this?

You can see where my original manifold stops. Should it be longer than this as the 4x4 subframe is different?

Help! :(
