Ever since I've had my Cavalier (see below for spec) I've never been able to pump fuel into it at more than half the speed you would normally fill a car at. Someone told me that there's a little bit of mesh or something a short way into the fuel pipe (from the filler end) which may be blocked or broken somehow. They said I should get a bit of stiff wire and poke it until it broke into the fuel tank. I'm worried that [a] this will clog up the fuel line leading out of the tank to the engine and [b] I may knacker the line from the filler cap to the tank.
Can anyone suggest what I could do? I took it to a garage last year and he said that the fuel line from the cap to the tank was just narrow and wiggly, hence the low rate at which I can fill the vehicle. It sounded like he might just have been fobbing me off though, as it's unlikely all Cavaliers fill slowly!
