Finally got the car run in. drives very smooth, lots of power.. but its very different to before the rebuild... expected admitadly.. but not in a way im sure is a good thing.. i just dont know yet.. lol...
The car holds 0.6bar constant on setting 1.
on setting five in anything up to fourth (obviously less boost lower down) there is a distinct lack of of overboost... the boost starts building as low as 2k rpm, when it hits 3k its about 0.6bar slowly creeping up and up untill it hits 1.25bar and holds about 5k the car is flying...
In fith and sixth, overboost happens a bit, tbh it seems more in fith than sixth, and does hit the 1.5 bar on occasion according to my spa max boost figure even if i cant see it on the gauge live readout... so im reluctant to turn the preload up anymore.. i dont think its nessacary..
the car holds well over a bar to the rev limit 7.5k
So any ideas?? I have changed so much in the car since the rebuild that I cannot begin to fault find that way.. need a few suggestions.. the phase3.5 is the latest kit type without the amal valve self test click etc...
The only slight issue which i might have is a vacuum leak around the inlet somewhere, i can hear a slight hiss on idle, but im not sure its not just the idle control valve and a normal intake hiss.. the engine has never been this quiet.. i have sprayed some spray around and the engine does not seem to pickup... and none of the boost hoses seem to be loose...
the new setup is as follows (calibra turbo)
0.5 overbore, new valves/lifters-reground
Piper fast road cams
uprated actuator stock kkk16 turbo
AMM moved to inlet
eds phase 3.5+ kit inc cooler
apexi cone filter
sealed recirc valve and fitted Dvalve bailey..
dont think anything else is relevant.. what about switch position? im using the switch from my old phase3 kit, i've relocated the locking pin so that the switch goes from pos1 fully anticlockwise and 4 more positions to the right.. thats correct isnt it??? i guess it must be else it wouldnt reach the held boost figure :-S
sorry, i dont understand.. can you please exaplain?? my switch was a 5 pos when i bought my phase3, which has been upgraded to phase 3.5 ecu, but i still have my old switch.. its locked on the first 5 positions, but the thing fell out, so thats where i put it back, i think thats right...
anyway.. blew the car up last night see other threed.. so more predominant problems atm heheh.. cheers for advice tho... interested to hear what the rewiring does.
I think eds realised that 12 positions was far to many so fitted the locking pin to reduce it to 5 and repositioned a few wires on the reverse of the switch to make position 5 max boost not half boost.
Just read your other thread, bad news matey
Im currently rebuilding my engine with low comp pistons plus some other goodies and Im parraniod about starting it in case it goes pop and I've wasted lots of time and money.
