Strut Brace and engine bracket
Does anyone know where you can get the strut brace that has a third bolting point that fixes to the rocket cover of a 2.0l 16v?
It's also for a nova. I saw two at billing one on an Turbo Astra and one on a 2.0L 16v Turbo Nova.
Anyone have any ideas ? I know that they are available for the mini. But I've never seen them for sale for the nova, especially 2.0L16V nova.
Basically it's a mount (similar to a normal engine mount) that's part of a strut brace that bolts onto the rocker cover and stops the engine moving about so much ?
not a good idea as it's alloy you're bolting into and besides the rocker cover bolts are not done yp tight enough for that. You're better off fitting uptated engine mounts that bolt to the cast iron block.
That's why it's a rubber mount, to decrease movement but not stop it ?
Still wouldn't do it. Besides, if it's that car i think it is then rob informs me he has removed the one on his blue mk3 astra gsi turbo.
blue mk3 astra gsi turbo rings a bell.
Ok mate, cheers for the advice.
Which rob is that ?
Rob removed his because it broke off, so there ya go.
Rob had it made (welded on) and as Oddball said it twisted the strut brace really bad and broke. So not a good idea.
Here is an idea for you.
Open the bonnet and start the engine then get someone to floor it (once its warmed up) a few times. Then you will see why its a silly idea to fit one of these.
The engine is MEANT to move in the engine bay.
If you want to decreases the engine movement, buy some uprated rubber mounts.
I ordered my kit today from TAS. £100.98 for the lot (VAT and P&P included in that).
