mostly trial, fortunately no error. i just searched on here as every problem came up and always found answers. the haynes details all the stupid things to avoid like mixing cam caps and head bolt order.
oh yeah, remember lap the valves if you want max compression
Give Gary a ring, he is very helpfull with his advice, and will charge a very fair rate. The key thing to check, is the valves and seats. Make sure there is no dammage to the faces that will prevent the chambers sealing and in turn loosing compression. If they're ok spend a fair while lapping them in, little bit of time here could mean a few more BHP, and all for free! Get a new head set from autovaux, this includes, stem seals, head gasket, rocker cover gasket, thermostat 'O' ring and other ancillaries and costs about £55.
aye, if you're methodical and have miggers to fall back on you can soon get the hang of it. the main thing is look at things and try and understand what's going on cos it makes putting it all back together easier.
PS Refitting is NOT Reversal of Removal - it's a lot harder. wait til you have to put collets on.
