My turbo has started smoking a fair bit recently. Not every time, but its getting worse.
Whilst I dont really need to use the car for a while, and to prevent further damage I thought I'd get it reconditioned now.
The smoke is definately coming from the turbo, I've got a bit of clear intake pipe thats not so clear now.
Will the reconditoners requre this part with the recirculation valve and intake? Is it normal to have that much oil here? Could this some how cause the smoking? I've checked the one way valve and it seems fine (its on the right way around and works for me blowing in it). There are no blocks in the breathers.
The wastegate valve seat is cracked, but it doesn't look like a big enough crack to leak boost?
There is a little bit of play in the shaft, more so left to right than up and down, I've no idea what it should be like or anything to compare it do so dont know if thats bad?
This is where the recirc valve seals, to me it doesn't look like it will get a 100% seal, could I make a little gasket to put inbetween the 2 parts to make sure? Is this a good idea and if so where can I buy gasket paper?
Any general thoughts on cost of recon?
