Still trying to decide exactly what spec my engine will be when the rebuild is complete, so maybe someone can answer these questions for me to help me on my way!
If I get my standard pistons pocketed to accommodate lairy cams will it weaken them much? Also would the standard Mahle Forged pistons stand up to this better than the cast items?
If I do the above, I’ve gathered from searches on here that about a 2mm pocket is needed? Please correct me if im wrong!
Im also looking at DTA E48EXP Management at the moment, @ £550 +Vat it is within my budget but then there is the wiring loom @ £225 +Vat on top of that(QED Prices). While searching the forum I read a couple of posts saying that it is possible to make an adapter plug for my current loom to attach to the new ECU if not running TB's. Is this feasible? If not im quite able with a soldering iron and a pair of wire snips lmao , has anybody made the own loom?
well its just a wire going from point a to point b. easiest way would be to chop off the GM multi-plug. then with wiring diagram in hand, hook up the sensors to the correct pin for the DTA multiplug. an adapter would be the same principle, but where would you get the correct sex multiplug to go from the adapter loom to the standard GM multiplug.
mattj made his own loom for his emerald ecu, he used the original gte loom, discarded any uneeded wires. he first ran the standard gte16v engine with emerald management, and more recently swapped to throttle bodies.
