My XE is runnung a bit rough on idle, it idles a bit rough at times and at others really smooth.
The other thing i have noticed it if i pull away with a small amount of throttle it bogs down, coughs splutters and will not pull until i dip the clutch and rev it a bit.
I have recenlty put a pipercross cone filter on it, it used to have a K&N cone on it, i wouldn't have said this started straight after, but not long after.
i had this problem, for me it was a split in the rubber gasket thing that holds the air pipe onto the air box on top of the engine after the afm if u know what i mean, take it off and have a good look round it to see if there are any splits, mine had good days and bad days till i replaced that and it fixed the problem. it only had the smallests of splits in it to
I have put a new SFI box seal on shortly after i fitted the engine, checked that today and it is still good.
Olly, CTS? i take it you mean Cold Temp Sensor? I replaced this when the engine when in cos i broke the last one
Taken it out for a drive today and it has been giving it some grief most of the day on partial throttle.
It feels like it wants to backfire through the inlet/filter, if i dip the clutch and rev it then pull away with the revs slightly up the rev range 2000 rpm then it is ok.
i had a similar thing at the weekend. popped the bonnet to find a big fat spark jumping from the ignition lead on no.2 to the cam cover. insulation had failed and the spark was arcing before it reached the spark plug.
ive also had similar symptoms when one of the spark plugs was loose, crappy idle and the engine not feeling as if it was all there.
third time when one of the spark leads had jumped out the cam cover, and off the plug slightly due to pressure in the spark plug chamber, which is a freak but not uncommon occurance on the XE
