I have recently bought a 1994 Astra GSi. The person I bought it off has just had the cambelt changed 2 months ago (got all receipts to prove it), but there seems to be a bit of water leaking from this area. I think it may be the water pump but need a bit of advise as to whether it is this or not.
The mfd keeps telling me to Check coolant and I have to keep topping it up with water.
Is it the water pump that is leaking or the seal broken etc, or could it be something else.
Is the water pump easy, cheap to change or will the cambelt etc have to come off to do this?
Yep sounds about right it was a bit murky on Friday but now its just drinking what I put in each morning.
Is it a garage job or can it be done easily?
How much did yours cost to fix if you dont mind me asking?
Yeah sounds like the water pump, I think its under £40 from autovaux, yes the cambelt will need to come off as that is what drives the water pump...
Its held in with 3 bolts, normally allen key heads...
Thanks for the help, want to get it sorted this week, sounds like i will have to take it in to a garage if the cambelt has to come off aswell.
Is there anything else that I should change whilst doing this?
