I just installed a late C20XE from a Cav SR1 93' model. DIS engine into my Manta. We were trying to make the engine run today but didnt succeed. The engine was cranking fine but the engine just wont catch. I took a look at the plugs and they were flooded. I also checked for sparks, no problem. When cranking, it sounded like it was going to run but never did. Like it was out of time. It back fired at the exhaust a couple of times. Firing order OK. Any ideas mates? Cheers!
We made new fuel pressure and return lines from 5/16 tubing and had custom hoses crimped. So its very hard to get mixed up with the fuel hoses. I already double checked the leads on the coil and it checks out. Something strange with the plugs though when I took them out after trying to start the engine. It was wet with gasoline....and but it did'nt smell right. Like it was mixed with engine oil?!!!!! Don't know how the oil got there. I had the fuel tank drained just to make sure the gas is not contaminated . We just rebuilt the engine. I had it balanced, ported and polished, lightened flywheel, 91.3mm bored out throttle body. 85 shots of nitrous, custom extractors and 2 1/2 inch exhaust system. And 276 Schrick cams. I hope I'll be able to make it run today as this setup should deliver some power don't you think? I'll be back in the UK next month for another 6 months of work at Cambridge. Hope to see some of you mates there! Cheers!
