I'm having a few issues with my turbo'd XE. Just got the car back from the rolling road to have the fuelling and ignition set up. Bearing in mind that I'm sporting the standard intercooler, i'm a little bit dubious about the figures I've been supplied with.
I don't know what kind of correction figures they used to calculate the flywheel power of 250bhp, so I'm going to ignore that. It's showing peak wheel power of 210 bhp @ 5250rpm and 270lbft @ 4000rpm.
I'm not really concerned about peak power because I built it for use on the road. What I am concerned about is the lack of low down torque. I'm using a standard K16 and examining the standard LET torque graph it peaks at just over 2000rpm.
Out on the road the engine feels pretty much like a standard XE until you hit around 3000rpm. Things improve a little and then around 4000rpm (at which point it has reached full boost of 0.8 bar) it goes like stink.
It feels nice to drive at speed, but what I'm really after is low down grunt!! Has anyone got any ideas on how to improve my situation?
