My car lost power and had to be towed off the A1. The garage diagnosed the fault as a 'knackered turbo' and we agreed a price £700 for replacement. I just returned from holiday expecting to pick up my car and was told that after they had fitted the turbo, the engine over revved and bent the rods and pistons. Consequently, I need a replacement engine, estimated cost £2000. Have done a bit of research and think the over revving was caused by oil in the intercooler. Shouldn't this have been removed by the mechanics prior to starting the engine up?
