hi, i have installed a redtop from a j reg cav gsi into my k reg cavalier, mechanically it is all set up perfectly, and i swapped the ecus. the problem is when i turn the key, no yellow ecu light flashes up, and the engine cranks but no injection of fuel, its like the engine and ecu arent talking, this is the second redtop i have put in this car, the first one was from a newer car (after cavs were facelifted: when redtop cavs became sri 16v) and it went in fine, just plugged in the big twist socket and the ecu, started no bother. i was wondering if vauxhall has changed the wiring around from old redtop to new and there some changes i have to make... i checked colour coding and it all seems to match up, i even tried using the ecu from the newer redtop with the old engine, still no ecu light... has anybody had this problem befor or knows awy to overcome it? i know the redtop and ecu work perfectly as i have just taken them out of another car
Re: xe transplant wiring problems -please help me!!
i have a similar fault with my calibra turbo,i think i may have killed the ecu tho,the light ecu light should cum on with ign but mine comes on when it feels like it,obviously no light and it jus winds over and doesnt start, ive not got to the bottom on this yet but mine works fine if i take the batt lead off 4 10 mins and then put it back on,weird.
a bad earth at the 2 earthing points on the fuel rail will give you no ecu light 2,also imobiser fault.
