I've spent some quality time enhancing the turbo temp calculator on my site.
Apart from Water Injection levels, it now adjusts for the intercoolers and turbos commonly used on LETs
[As far as I know there is no such facility anywhere else, irrespective of car make]
I see what you mean. Empirically it does at first look a bit high boost to run on std compression.
However, at 30C ambient you should really add *at least* 10C to account for engine bay heatsoak. Heatsoak effect increases disproportionally as ambient temps approach 40C, and behave weird after 40. I intend to incorporate the heatsoak effect in the next revision, thanks for bringing it up.
Also remember that these calculations are for temp-induced detonation, meaning that optimised ignition timing is assumed. Therefore you could indeed run over 1 bar with 10:5 CR, but the power would be significantly less than that of another engine runing lower CR at the same boost.
utilise an "evo" FMIC and big garret and u get right off the scale???
yep, and people do run high boost on stock blocks, and get away with it as long as fuelling and ignition are remapped properly. The effect of a big garrett would be significantly lower EGTs, helping make more power (which doesn't show on this model)
this makes it seem kinda fruitless lowering the compression ratio for a high boost engine? unless theres summat im missing here
Not at all. But the effect of a couple of points of CR is smaller than most people believe, as far as cylinder temps are concerned.
They are VERY valuable for keeping chamber pressures in check, something again that isn't reflected in this model. Something for the future version perhaps...
