    1.6i CFi 8v Tuning help

Other than the induction kit i have fitted, does anyone know any reasonably cheap tuning mods for the cfi motor (not including replacing it!!)?

Not really worth doing much else unless you're really desperate. You could swap the head/inlet (along with loom/ecu) for an MPi setup. It wouldn't be as quick as a genuine 1.6 MPi though, due to having low compression pistons.

Thanks kieran, thiught as much. Gotta try to keep the thing a bit economical as i will be commuting 120 miles a day from september. May go for an early 2.0 8valve if i can find one. Torky and reasonable mpg.

the best one is fit the usual airbox, then get yourself a new panel filter (K&N etc etc etc) de restrict the airbox inlet and feed the inlet hose (the plastic bit attached behind the grill) facing outwards not upwards - oh and get rid of normal grill that way the feed for the airbox will suck up lovely free air - much better than an induction kit unless you just want your car to be loud lmao

I managed to get the shrouded filter into the gap between the radiator and headlight (you can only hear it from out side there), and i am building a ram air box for it to go in the long slot at the bottom of the bumper. This should give a reasonable ram effect above 40 mph. Wont notice it tho.
