Engine stuffed at the moment (detailed in other post).. so i though tbefore i pull it apart i'd do a compression test to see where i stand...
Why oh why did i bother
Firstly, How are you supposed to do it?? I did it how it describes on the back of the gauge i bough, i just prey that you need to do a let in a different way lmao I'm sure its close enough the way i did it to realise its not good news..
It says to warm up engine, which i did, let it run till the fan came on, just over 90 on the gauge.
remove the + from the ignition coil, and remove the ignition leads..
Then remove the plugs one at a time, put in the gauge finger tight and turn the engine with the accelerator open..
So thats what i did..
Should i have taken all the plugs out first as i've seen others say? should i have removed the fuel injection fuse?? which ones that??
Anyway.. heres the bad news...
oh my oh my
1 2 3 4
Dry 146 156 139 136
wet 170 170 150 152
So by my recconing i have fubar rings on all cylinders, and a potential head/gasket problem between 3 and 4? or buggered valves on 3 and 4
would removing the plugs and doing the test again be a good idea? that way if its a leak between cylinders you'd expect to see 3 and 4 drop even lower as the neighbour clyinder wont be under compression at all?
PS standard LET engine so far as i know..
