I Replaced a headgasket on a 1.6 astra sport today, when it came to tightening down the head bolts i followed the manual which said -
then a further 40 when engine is up to temp
now dont ask me why, but after doing the 25 nm, i done 130 degrees (having a blond moment) so i decided to do another 65 degrees and leave it at that. (havnt warmed engine up yet to do the other 40)
I then look at the leaflet that was supplied with the head bolts and it stated completely different way to do it- 25nm, 90 , 90, 90, 45.
So what shall i do????
which one do i go bye?
Is it a big deal that i over tightened the bolts on the first round?
Thanks for any help!
