Because of a MOT centre strike in N.Ireland my Cavalier 2ltr ecotec 16v was off the road for 6 months. I had been running the engine every week to keep the battery charged, but since I,ve put it back on the road one of the tappets is sticking.
I,ve flushed the engine with STP changed the oil and filter but it,s still sticking ,when I start it up from cold then it stops till I move off then every time I touch the trottle it ticks away.
Any help would be brill as the noise is driving me mad.
okay if the valve is sticking you can free it off by going for a run,uv gotta put your foot down a bit to free it,i had that recently with my c20let, if that doesnt work chances are u may need new followers, how many miles???
yeah just give it a run, take it out for a drive and put you foot down a bit and if it is a sticky valve/follower this will sort it,oil levels okay yeah? if this dont sort it your need new followers, but you can test these by squeesing them once youve got um out
