I decided to try and find out whats causing my annoying stuttering and jerk at idle and my misfire at low revs and general loss of power today.
so went out with new plugs, bought from Vauxhall and they use the larger type head which means they only just about fit into the gap and i havent got anything that will go around them and fit into the gap. sod all i can do there.
checked the water and heres the gunge. what do you make of this?
then heres what every plug looked like. looks like its got very hot to me? that white isnt a deposit, thats the colour of the plug.
so i decided to do a compression test. when i first did my head gasket i got about 220psi out of each cylinder except no.4 which had about 210psi.
here are the results:
So the middle cylinders have about half the compression of the outside ones, would explain the lumpiness and loss of power.
Also does the compression on 1 and 4 seem high? that may also explain why the plugs are getting too hot.
So then i remembered this bit of advice: http://cavweb-forums.co.uk/showpost....94&postcount=6 but i didnt remember the teaspoon bit and poured a bit of oil into the 2 middle ones, re-attached the compression tester, turned it over and CLUNK! with all smoke pouring out of one of the plug holes. panicked and put all the plugs back in and it runs still but its blowing sh1tloads of oil out of the exhaust,
Have I either:
blown a ring?
blown the headgasket?
blown a hole in the block/head?
