I'm in need of advice on fitting a head gasket set. From the Heinous (Intended misspelling) manual I understand I need to do the following:
Drain the water/coolant (I'm assuming from the lowest jubillee clipped pipe I can find)
Disconnect the battery (in order to not accidentally start the engine)
Disconnect exhaust manifold
Mark and take off the HT leads and dissy cap
Remove breather pipe bracket and disconnect hose
Remove rocker cover and gasket
Remove any other pipes/hoses/wires etc.
Undo timing belt housing? Not too sure about that bit. I'm sure it will make more sense when I do it.
Undo the big bolts holding the head on and remove
Take out funny long bits and put in oil bath
Well, that's how I'm assuming it will go. Is there anything I need to know about that I haven't covered. Like what happens next!
(By the way, if I could afford to put this in the garage to be fixed, I would have. Most I've done before is stripped the carbs on my mates ZRX1100 or the service and odd bits on my old Astra.)
Any advice would be much appreciated
