Pretty sure the head gasket is giving up the ghost on my Calibra Turbo.
I had noticed the car had began to missfire in the last week when coming on boost. This missfire coincided with fitting a modded rotor arm (TFS stylee), so i put it down to me ballsing up the fitment somehow, or the king lead touching my new stainl;ess IC pipe. Also i began to notice the car "pulsating"/missing (best description) when sitting stationary. Then last night noticed the temps were up maybe 5-10 degrees on normal. Then today, white smoke out of the exhaust. Put it down to condensation at first but it continued. Walked thorugh the white exhaust fumes to try to get a whiff. A sweet smell. Oh and the expansion tank is empty.
Pretty conclusive then dont you think lmao . Atleast the oil is mayo free!
I guess in hindsight my first sign was travelling to PV04 a couple weeks back. I blew the radiator on the way up. I put it down to a dodgy old rad, but too much pressure in the system it seems.
Bought a compression tester just to be 100%. But it seems a classic hg failure from the searches i did.
What gasket to go for? Boggo C20LET gasket or Z20LET one with the necessary rivet mods. I plan on running phase two in the near future, the Z20LET one stronger? What about the smaller coolant passage holes?
Wish me luck, first time i've even considered doing one. Timing worries me, but i think i'll rope in Miles to lend a hand.
