Serious problems here went out driving the other day for about 20 minutes, pulled back up on my driveway, and the temperature guage was slowly going up, so i switched the engine off, and in about 2 seconds there was water ****ing out from the engine bay
I left it for the night and came out next morning, there was hardly any coolant left in the expansion tank.
I topped it back up, started the car and put the heaters on full in the car. Within about 10 minutes the temperature went to 90c, then gradually went up. For some reason the fan only kicked in for a very short while then cut off. When the thermostat opened up the temperature went up like a bugger. I shut the engine off again and all of a sudden the expansion tank filled instantly to the top with coolant and boiled over and spat everywhere
Any ideas peeps? Im hoping its not the head gasket
where is the water coming from. have you just let it boil over with no cap on the expansion tank?if the temp is that variable then the lump isnt cooling properly, and your in danger of twisting the cylinder head.
is there bubbling in the expansion tank when starting from cold?
how often to you refil the water?
have you checked all the coolant pipes?
keep some cans of waer in the boot incase your out and about and it does decide to overheat.
vaux will chart you £700, so make sure you know whats wrong with it!
give me more info and i'll comment
Richie if its any use i'll have a x12xe lump with gearbox and everything going on the market soon. 50K miles on it sweet as a nut and regularly serviced. Just waiting for the valver to drop in. Also could deliver as well in my Sprinter van...
Flushed out cooling system, drained engine oil (there was wayyyyyyyyyy to much oil in there, the dipstick was reading almost double ), refilled both, replaced thermostat cos old one was sticking, and replaced rad switch because it didnt kick in till about 98c but the new one kicks in at 95c which is right, and all is hunky dory now
Tom ill send u a u2u on CS later, will still probably be interested in the engine for spares. Will it include the F13 gearbox or u selling that seperate?
